Shipping is thinking
January 30, 2026
There's a common misconception that thinking and doing are separate activities. That you first think, then you do. Strategy, then execution.
In practice, shipping is how you think. The act of building reveals what you didn't know you didn't know. Every deploy is a hypothesis tested.
This isn't an argument against planning. It's an argument for treating plans as living documents that evolve through contact with reality.
The best products I've worked on weren't the result of perfect upfront thinking. They emerged from tight loops of building, observing, and adjusting.
Ship to think. The clarity comes after.
